Junior A Hurling Championship 2024

Some battle down in riverstick yesterday, game could’ve gone either way in the last 5 minutes. I knew belgooly wouldn’t go down easy. Seriously tough game both teams had to fight for everything. Felt the ref was very harsh towards tracton in the first half but he got better in the second half to be fair to him. Belgooly kept up with tracton the whole game but didn’t go ahead once and tracton ended up holding out with a 2 point victory in the end. A lot of tractons big fowards in previous games didn’t show up yesterday and a few of them ended up being taken off, if it wasn’t for Micky sull and sub Ciann Quinn who came on and got a goal when the game was in the melting pot I think tracton would’ve been in big trouble yesterday. Valleys and tracton final now in 2 weeks should be one for the books, I’ve heard that valleys have gotten stronger since they first met tracton with a few lads back from football so should be another very close game between the two teams.

Also heard ballinhassig where very unlucky in the other semi final to lose out by a point right at the end of the game. The south east has been very competitive this year hopefully one of the teams can go on now and win the county.

No disrespect to Belgooly but Tracton must be gone back a bit, after reaching the Div 5 final, peaked too soon? Similar to Russell Rvs last year? Did they take Belgooly for granted? After seeing them play in the league I didn't think anyone would give them a game until the county section, difficult to keep it going at a consistent level for 6 months

Hard to say really with Tracton, with fella's returning they should actually be stronger on paper than what they had for the league. Maybe playing every second week in the league helped build momentum. Their last serious match before yesterday was on the 25th August! Hopefully they got a kick in the arse yesterday or maybe that's just their level!

I know of two divisional finals on this weekend

Ballinascarthy v O'Mathuna's at 4pm on Sunday in Enniskeane
Ballinora v Ballincollig at 6:30pm in Ovens on Sunday evening.

Is the City final and North Cork final on?

I know South East is the following weekend and East Cork aswell as far as i know.
Dromtarriffe waiting in the County aswell, nice position to be in.

Passage vs Whitechurch Saturday 4pm
Harbour Rovers vs Killavullen Sunday 2pm

I presume that Passage v Whitechurch will be 50/50
Harbour will be favourites over Killavullen

Ballinora favourites against Ballincollig but a big test for Ballinora

Ballinascarthy will be big favourites against O'Mathuna's. They've a few West Corks won over the last few years.

The South-East has seemed to improve a lot this season. Carrigaline have have improved from the absolute state they were in the last few years. Valleys and Belgooly are very good sides and I reckon Valleys will push Tracton all the way. Ballinhassig have also improved. Hoping it's a good omen for the next few years of junior hurling in the South-East. Tracton could get stuck down this grade
