Great to see the Clare man come to give his input on the North Cork Junior hurling scene, it was badly needed. Have you been to Kilshannig Gaa much recently? If you haven't then I'll paint a picture for you, the parking set up is in a field. It was a largely attended game, the entrance to the field allows for one car. The dressing rooms are on the other side of the road to the pitch, as is the field where you park. Pedestrians crossing to there cars get priority by the stewards which I agree. So it can be a bit of a prick of a place to get out of. I didn't leave 10 minutes early. The clock had hit 60 by the time I left, but as always your opinion is greatly appreciated here.
Yes in hindsight the wording was a bit harsh, the family in question are one of the best we have, but the player in question would be the first to say he played poorly, he hardly touched a ball in the last game against Ballyhooly and got the full game, while lads who were scoring and playing well were taken off. Our lads played Ballinhassig in a challenge match the weekend of the Avondhu quarters and the player suffered an injury that stopped him from training for the past few weeks. All the discussion around me was who was taking his place in the team during the warm up, but he started. He played every minute I was in attendance for, I didn't see this part but he was actually substituted off at the end and the player who replaced him scored the goal at the end. Disappointment got the better of me yesterday and I am hopeful and positive going forward. However I do stand by the fact that if that player wasn't related to the management I don't think he'd have been given a jersey let alone given 60 minutes. I have to give the management credit though, before they came in we'd never made it past the group stage. Then they took us to a final in their first year, beaten in the semi last year by the eventual winners and I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case again this year.
