Junior A Hurling 2025

Ballyclough 1:24
Fermoy 2:09

Harbour Rovers : 2-19(25)
Liscarrol Chuchtown Gaels : 1-19(22)

Good to see Ballyclough get a win in which was a big step up from there previous seasons.

LC gaels seem to have bottled it big time in the game. They will be up against it in the quarter finals.

In Muskerry, Ballinora, Grenagh and Inniscarra all won easily this weekend, means going into the final game Grenagh have 8 pts, with Inniscarra and Ballinora both on 6, nothing between them score difference wise also.

Inniscarra will more than likely go through as they meet Aghabullogue, they had a poor score difference at the starter of the weekend but beat Kilmichael by over 20 points.

This makes Ballinora-Grenagh essentially a knockout game, any winning margin for Ballinora would lift them above Grenagh, Ballinora beat Grenagh twice comfortably last year but would expect a tighter game this time around. Would be mad if Grenagh fail to get out of the group having 4 wins out of 4 to start with.

In the other group Dripsey and Donoughmore are both through given the way the fixtures have fallen, will play each other for top spot.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Grenagh knock Ballinora out this year. They have regressed in my eyes but maybe they will have a kick in them again.
In muskerry if three teams are tied on the same points (ballinora beat grenagh), does score difference count for every game or just the games played between the top three.
If it’s every game inniscarra will top that group if Grenagh win and id nearly be backing them to win it out at that stage with the seniors out.

Grenagh would top the group in that case.

If that’s correct then from what I can gather any victory for Inniscarra over Aghabullogue would guarantee them to qualify, as even if Ballinora do beat Grenagh leaving a 3 way tie, it’s not possible for Grenagh and Ballinora to both be in the top 2 on scoring difference.

Grenagh and ballinora essentially a quarter final so

If dripsey win and blarney win, are Donoughmore out?

Only if Inniscarra beat Aghabullogue.
A draw would be enough for Grenagh in that case.

I’m not sure what would happen if it’s a 3 way tie with Ballinora beating Grenagh by exactly 1 point.
In that case the 2 teams would be level on points and scoring difference.
If it’s the same as the Senior and Intermediate grades, the next deciding factor is Total Scores For, which Ballinora are just ahead of Grenagh.
I don’t know if this is the case though in the Divisions or if it’s different than the higher grades.

If dripsey win and blarney win, are Donoughmore out?
Donoughmore have 2 points and a +6 points difference over Blarney, so yes that’s a very possible scenario.. you’d probably fancy Blarney to beat Éire Og by that margin alright on on form so Donoughmore would need a draw at minimum against Dripsey, so still all to play for. They can be a disaster to deal with at times but we should give the Mid-Cork board credit in fairness to them. The new 2 group format has made things much more interesting in my view although there have been several hammerings too which will always happen..

Sidenote - I can’t understand Ballincollig at all and what their approach is to Junior hurling, getting annihilated against Blarney the other night. Had they their junior b team out or what happened ? Hard to imagine they beat Donoughmore in the first game and now look like they’ll finish bottom. They only seem to care about their first team or is that unfair on them ? Blarney, Inniscarra and Éire Og in fairness would always take the Junior seriously even if it was with a view of blooding younger players for the first team the following year.
