100%. Way too many games
Should make it 5x12 team divisions, or 4x14, split each division into A and B like last year. If they went 5x12, so 2 sections of 6 teams, Top 2 teams in each section go into league semi finals. Bottom team from each section either play relegation game, or both get relegated and 2 finalists come up from division below.
Max that any dual club will play is 16 games (if they make both finals, chances of this would be low).

Your second teams will be in a lower league with the same format so will be playing the Sunday/Monday after your first team play week in week out..
Rural teams will have to go door to door over the winter to campaign for new players
Correct. And there would usually be at least 9 or 10 togging for both games then. A huge commitment for those not named on the first 15 prior to start of league and championship.
One thing, to be fair, the county board have been quite progressive with their redevelopment of league and championship in recent years. They seem willing to listen and learn from past mistakes.
If the 2023 structure doesn’t work and is complained about by a lot of clubs, I’d be hopeful they will look at adjusting it to make it work better the following year.

10 team league , 9 games take 18 weeks to play every 2nd week hurling football , final would make it 20 weeks . To be finished 2 weeks before football Cship in July it would need to start mid Feb
Does it have to finish in July ? Players have a well documented issue which is sometimes referred to in conversations vis a vis other sports that the training to games ratio is way out of kilter....

Trying to get lads to play league after being knocked out of championship is hard to do .

Players will be delighted with regular meaningful games, all played to a schedule. They'll know when it's a hurling week/football week etc and can plan accordingly. Kudos to the county board for getting it done.
