I hope the family go ahead and appeal this sentence to the DPP , far too lenient

One of the issues with our system is that the family don't have the right to appeal.

It is a decision of the DPP and the DPP alone as to whether or not to appeal, all the family can do is to express their wishes to the DPP

I would say this sentence will be appealed and doubled...hope so anyway...his winking and laughing could come back on him yet.

Absolutely. Once the sentence is passed Nolan couldn't change it as a response to it (though he could have held him in contempt, I think), but an appeal Judge could look at it.

I'm not in any way in agreement with the sentence of 6 years for this manslaughter offence. He should have gotten twice that, imo.

Just pointing out that the garlic case was a very serious fraud and merited a 6 year sentence.

That was a 1.6 million euro fraud.

I don't know why people pretend it was a thing of nothing.

What's worse, 50,000 child porn images, or 1.6m in garlic fraud?

That's right, the child porn, because someone was sexually abused there.

I've no problem with him getting that sentence, but it just throws into farce the other sentences he's handing out.

Didn't think of that but hopefully DPP takes cognisance of families wishes and does the correct thing
