Friend of mine is seeking parents/guardians of children roughly aged 10-17 who had a relative in the First World War as part of a 1916 commemoration supplement in a newspaper.

Is it just native irish that the journalist is interested in?

An intetesting angle may be that there are eastern european children here whose ancestors would have been prussians or even cossacks.

similarly there are african kids here whose ancestors would have fought on both sides of the great war , for example, as askaris or "fuzzy wuzzies"
