Joining a gym

My friend who is a fitness buff said I'd be overworking my muscles repeating the same exercises 7 days a week. Just a heads up to people. Now I know why my arm is sore
Faceplam
Rest and recovery is vital. You can still work out every day if you split it up to work different things on different days.

I know shit about kettlebell exercises but a very common split is push, pull, legs (PPL) for example.

Started my strength improvement journey yesterday, I did 15 different exercises as part of a whole body workout with the 2kg weights that I found from a very well respected youtuber, it was a program for beginners so I had to take it slowly to ensure I did no damage by doing things wrong, yer man was using 6kg weights so my aim would be to go up to 4kgs after a while.

I was bate afterwards and had to go straight to bed, feeling no ill effects today however.

The feeling I got reminded me of how wrecked I used to be after playing 5 a side soccer back in the day, except without the guilty feelings of having cost my team the match by leaving in 5 goals when it was my turn to go in goal.

I got a present of a weighted vest. So far, I am kind of failing to see the point of it, but I have only used it while walking. Anyone have experience of them?

A friend of mine uses one everyday for walking/light running and swears by it for building core and lower back strength

I would say they're very much a fitness/S&C fad. It's an industry that is constantly repackaging and rebranded the same core concepts into new shiney methods and products.

I see footballers especially using them doing various pre season drills/excercises...I presume it's just additional resistance. It seems silly to me putting additional weight on their joints doing such activities considering the general risk of injury from such activities as it is.

I'd say you'd be grand walking/jogging with one but I wouldn't be doing any fast twisting or turning in one.

Maybe I just need to keep at it. Haven't really noticed anything for good or for ill as yet
It's gotten fashionable with the insta set.

Definetly good for the knees and ankles.

I trained for a half trail run half marathon wearing a 50lb pack (one of these ones were dopes get to imagine they're special army soldiers off on a mission) about 15 years ago you'd get really fuckin strong off the back of it no question

Definetly has benefits I'd say. Definetly will add some more intensity/load to a hike or whatever.

Not sure about claims of improving bone density and the like but it's probably a safe way to bring resistance training into your life which as we all get older becomes fairly vital

(usual disclaimers apply)

It's funny you say that, because I got it from my SIL and she is very much a fitness fad person!
