Joe rooney no football comedy show@ roundy, live footag

Football here, football there, football every f...king where! tra lala lala lala lala!!!!!

Whether you love the beautiful game or despise watching 22 overpaid grown men chase each other around a well kept field, there is no escaping the fact that the World Cup will overshadow all our lives from June 12th to July 12th.

But even the football lovers among us will need to come up for air and take a break at some point.

So what to do with yourself during this withdrawal period?

Well we here at The Roundy Laughs have assembled a craic team to assist with this very task. Months of resea.......okay about 4 mins of research went into finding out when our support would be most needed.

The group stages finish on June 26th -leaving a football free day on June 27th !!!!! (The thought alone will strike terror in to the hearts of many)

So then our Roundy Laughs’ team had to progress to stage 2 of the mission- finding a comedian that could cope with the mammoth task in hand.

Our search led us deep in to the jungle of the Brazilian Amazon which incidentally turned out to be a complete waste of time and effort because we located the perfect man for the job- a comedy genius- having a pint in Dublin while blowing a WHISTLE!

Ladies and Gentlemen, we at The Roundy Laughs are proud to present the Irish comedy legend that is Joe Rooney (Father Ted, Killinaskully) as our headline act at the NO WORLD CUP COMEDY SHOW on Friday June 27th at the Roundy Bar.

Joe Rooney

Joe Rooney has been making people laugh for the last 15 years from places as far flung as Atlanta to Edinburgh, Oman, Oslo, Dubai, Dublin and everywhere in between, except for Longford.
With observations about everything from fatherhood to one armed chemistry teachers his infectious enthusiasm leaves audiences in paroxysms of laughter. Throw a few hilarious musical interludes and you have a recipe for comedy genius.
Joe is also a successful actor and writer having acted as Father Damo in Father Ted and Timmy in the long running RTE sitcom Killinaskully as well as a host of short films.
He recently acted in the RTE radio plays “The Sperm And The Sound” by playwright Neil Flynn and “A Snail Called Sam” by Joe O’ Byrne and recorded a single “The Rockier Road To Poland” with Shane MacGowan and The Aftermath.

Occasionally laconic, at times infectiously manic, and always rivetting – coupled with his years of experience have made him one of Ireland’s “10 Most Wanted”, when promoters nationwide pick up their phones.

“We’re here to wallow in how immensely bad it can get. Us Irish, we love the idea of a hard old time on the way,” Rooney declared inside an ornate theater-pub, prompting knowing laughter from the standing-room-only audience, many of whom were hoisting pints.- Los Angeles Times
