Jesus lads, 'tis looking like BREXIT!

No no no. In theory the SoS has the ability to call a BP but he/she can’t go on a solo run.

That cannot happen. Although it’s in the gift of the SOS to call a BP, it won’t happen if the ROI say we are not ready to hold a referendum yet. The BP vote is only allowed to happen simultaneously North and south.
We (in the ROI) are NOT beholden to a Westminster MP to decide if we hold a referendum in our jurisdiction…that’s just crazy talk. If he/she makes demands/forces a date, we can tell him/her to feck off. Ya know, sovereignty and all that.
Problem also with a BP; if NI is doing very well, the Tans won't want to give it back as, to be fair, it is the only success story of Brexshit. If the economy was in the bin and they wanted to give it back, ROI would say that it is too expensive to take on. Personally I think for what ever reason that it would be taken on, there would be a lot of foreign investment as it would be far attractive as a whole (island, country); a few of our allies would like to give a poke in the eye to the Tans.

"The BP vote is only allowed to happen simultaneously North and south".
Not correct. The GFA does not call for a border poll in the South - simultaneous or otherwise.

Nonsense, there is no requirement for a border poll in the South, the government at the time make the decision. Ffs this has been done to death here and explained at this stage

Sorry? What are you talking about?
A border poll result would lead to constitutional change. Constitutional change requires a referendum, full stop.
The government of the day (with a working majority for example) DO NOT have over riding powers.

684 instances of discharging raw sewage into the sea so far this summer.
Last year the New York Times infamously christened the UK “Plague Island” because of its disastrous handling of the Covid Pandemic.
This summer, CNN is referring to it as “Poop Island.”

Imagine if your neighbours tipped their rubbish over the wall into your garden?

The filthy British cunts.

We had the referendum - on the GFA.
You should read it.
This is the amendment we voted to include in the constitution by means of the referendum when 94% of us approved the agreement:

  1. It is the firm will of the Irish Nation, in harmony and friendship, to unite all the people who share the territory of the island of Ireland, in all the diversity of their identities and traditions, recognising that a united Ireland shall be brought about only by peaceful means with the consent of a majority of the people, democratically expressed, in both jurisdictions in the island. Until then, the laws enacted by the Parliament established by this Constitution shall have the like area and extent of application as the laws enacted by the Parliament[a] that existed immediately before the coming into operation of this Constitution.”
It’s kind of ambiguous.
