Jesus lads, 'tis looking like BREXIT!

UK back in Erasmus from 2027. Good.

Next up: Youth mobility scheme, basically a very low bar for young people to migrate between UK and EU, and closing off the Sanitary and Phytosanitary Standards deal which the UK government says should be in place by 2027.

There's a review of the Trade and Cooperation agreement next year. Expect Britain to basically agree to the terms that would amount to it joining the customs union, with a review due for shortly after the next election. Labour can't open discussions about joining the customs union (with Reform leading the polls, the EU can't be arsed with it and they promised in their manifesto it wouldn't happen), but they can meet all the pre-conditions for rejoining.

I think you're a bit blinded by this m8.

I just can't see Bwittain rejoining the customs union.

Now, it definitely should rejoin, but I don't see it.

I'm pretty certain it'll be back in a/the customs union by 2034 if the pro europe side win the 2028/9 election.

Labour are warming up to it, they're fundamentally in favour of EU reentry. The SPS agreement is a large step in the direction of it, it means that the UK won't be allowed to diverge from the EU when it comes to food standards. They've already said they'll recognise CE as equivalent to the pointless standard the Tories implemented, so nobody needs to comply specifically with UKCA any more.

The UK extended the deadline on UK REACH compliance to next year, 7 years after the original deadline.
Expect that to be a discussion next year, how the UK will just ditch its own chemicals compliancy standards and it'll align with the EU's.

They're basically doing the work for accession without officially announcing it as a formal policy. Wait for the Lib Dems and Greens to do the hard work of arguing for it until it gets near to the next election.

so I actually know a guy working for this dept, he said there's money slushing around, but fundamentally their work has been about label design and syncing any changes from the EU into their list daily.

He said a dozen or so differences will remain, due to changes the Tories made.

What a waste of time.

Absolutely.
I doubt those differences remain. The more Trump throws shit at the UK, such as the absolute fuckwittery he's engaged in this week, the bigger the incentive there is to just go all in with the EU again.

I think it'd be straightforward to argue for the customs union, even Turkey is in it, so it's nowhere close to fully rejoining

They would have to go into the next GE stating that they'd join the Customs Union if they win, and even that's a gamble because there has been no reconciliation between both factions. Even on top of that, Putin needs to be defeated before they go anywhere near something like this, as he'll stir the crap out of it again.

He's caning the BBC, and he's right. He absolutely hates the London Mayor. The only friend he has over there is Nigel Garbage but he's in trouble for racist stuff.
