I flew to Landan this morning, for work, from Belfast city airport.

5am in the airport, hundreds of men in high viz vests and work uniforms hopping on planes to go to the UK to do a weeks work.

That's some inditement of the state of the Northern economy, it was super grim.

It’s shutdown season on sites/plants/refineries. Specialist skills are always drafted in from abroad. It works both ways.

Same down the M1 every morning, thronged with vans full of lads going south to work for the day.

Did a bit of work over the border a number of years ago.
Different atmosphere, hard to describe, not even the sectarian divide. And not in a good way.
