Their chips and potato pies used to be superb.

The chips, for me, are still nice if you eat them in situ. I used to love the potato pies until they started doing the cheese and onion pies?, not that the potato pies were bad.

Nicest potato pies I ever had was in the old Angus Grill.

I heard that Frances and Brian only went back in July after being out of it for two years. They'd hardly pull some knack like that would they ? New contracts, new employers, new employment since July 2024 and therefore no redundancy obligations.

People in those situations are protected by TUPE. Essentially continuous service in a role carries from employer to employer.
You see it a lot in cleaning industry for example

My brother worked there for a summer, and I can confirm your opinion ! The rule was never get chips when they opened up for business Potato pies were fantastic though.

Great chips and plenty of them. Angus Grill would almost certainly be closed down now by the health authorities. The Wimpy in Fermoy was another place for greasy chips ,stopped there many a time on the way home from thurles.

i was down in wexford doing a job years ago in a super valu. the job had to be done overnight so around 21.00 myself and the boss headed out to a chipper for a feed.

the boss: large chips, a burger and a potato pie, biy.

chipper worker: a potato pie? what’s that?

boss: it’s a potato pie, biy. a pie made from potatoes. ye’ve no potato pies?

chipper: ah, you mean a spud ball!

they were actually fairly tasty but definitely didn’t beat lennox’s pie.
