This agreement between Germany and the Jewish authorities in Palestine facilitated Jewish emigration to Palestine. The main obstacle to emigration of Jews from Germany was German legislation banning the export of foreign currency. According to the agreement, Jewish assets in Germany would be disposed of in an orderly manner and the resulting capital transferred to Palestine through the export of German products. We're repeatedly told that in countries around Israel there are groups who aim to eradicate Israel. Meanwhile, here today, and for many decades, we've seen that the ones actually killing people in their thousands in the region are actually the Israelis. Circa 40,000 in Gaza, over 1,000 in Lebanon in the last fortnight, and now the Israeli leader is threatening to turn Lebanon into another Gaza, to put Lebanon into the abyss.

Netenyahu is an actual terrorist responsible for brutal killing of civilians in their thousands, and threatening to do the same to a neighbouring country, already having wreaked death and destruction on it.
But because his victims primarily have brown skin and are of a different religion some people want to give him a pass on that.

The “Palestine was never a country because it was owned by the Ottomans and then the English” is an old one going back many decades. If the crowd gasped when the woman told them about the “argument” it may be less because she destroyed the Palestinian narrative and more that they were amazed that someone of her age and education level hadn’t heard of the argument before

The argument is weak, because it would apply equally to the Israelis.

And would be akin to claiming prior to independence the Rep of Ireland was never a country because it was "owned" by the English, or prior to its independence Ukraine was never a country because it was "owned" by the Russians. It's a nonsense

AFAIK neither Quebec nor Northern Ireland are countries - wouldn't be au fait with some of the others.
