Island of Ireland is not ready for a unification referendum

I have heard the Republic of Ireland being mentioned loads of times.
Usage of that term comes from an argument between the Football Association of Ireland and the Irish Football Association as to who could field a team called Ireland.

Fifa coined the term Republic of Ireland. I believe it took a few more years for the Irish Football Association to agree to calling their team northern Ireland.

The name of the country is Éire or Ireland

That's a monstrosity of a thing.

Brutal!

Also, we could have Ireland's Call as National Anthem - enough to convince plenty to stick with status quo!!

Against that, we'd have to lose the requirement for compulsory Irish to Leaving cert as concession to Nordies - that may swing a few frazzled parents towards reunification. We'd have primary school teachers unable to string two words together in Irish.

Fair enough I still use Republic of Ireland, alright that must be where I am getting it from.
