Interesting article about concussion in rugby

Missing the 6 nations wouldn't be a bad thing for either Sexton or Ireland tbh. why was he even playing yesterday ffs, the game was meaningless.

I think that might be exactly what happened on Saturday Mick.
To make things worse he then jumped up and intercepted a pass to get back into it.

They need to take a stand on this now and withdraw him for his own good. He seems like the type of guy who will always play through an injury, which is admirable but not when it comes to long term health.

I agree Eoin for two reasons.
Firstly, Sexton's well-being is seriously at risk with all these knocks.
Secondly, Ireland have to introduce alternatives at out-half and let them get experience. I think that for the 2016 6N, Ireland need to start building rather than trying to win the championship.

He's been declared fit anyway.

By the way, the Off the Ball discussion about his on Monday was laughable.
It was literally, "Turns out there's nothing to worry about, because Leinster told us it was just a simple misunderstanding. He passed the HIA and they just kept him off because it was a dead rubber game anyway."
Meanwhile you have someone like Dr Barry O'Driscoll, who resigned from the IRB over their general mishandling of the concussion issue, saying that it was a blatant concussion.
Who is looking out for Sexton's best interests here?

Wasn't it Gary O'Driscoll? I don't see how he could diagnosis concussion from watching on tv it has to be said.
It might be the case that Sexton may have passed the protocols on the sidelines but Leinster decided to sit him out, which they couldn't have said at the time. But he would have passed the longer term protocols anyway to be declared fit now.
