Immigration Thread

The lack of a border with the North is a huge issue though and one we can’t easily solve. Just recently we had the leader of a political party here calling for border checks and he was rightly lambasted for it.
It's not that huge an issue.
Some want it to be but it's being over inflated as a problem.
Most people from the middle east etc are arriving by plane and tough asylum policies here would stem the flow from the north very quickly

Is the application available online?
We don't have room for refugees.
Unpopular statement as it is there's no point in taking in people and giving them tents.
They'd be better off nearer to their origin country tbphwy.
As Michael O'Leary keeps saying, there are no direct flights from a war zone to Ireland, and as you can't get on, check-in or even book a Ryanair flight without a Passport, there is nothing to stop the Government returning these 'undocumented' refugees back to the safe country they came from.

And deportation orders are up significantly with charter flights to start again soon. Time will tell if that makes a difference.

We do too but as I’ve pointed out here before and I’m blue in the face from saying it, the refugee crisis is separate to immigration. We have critical skills visas.

I think the above comment addresses this point too. We need to separate refugees from immigrants who come here to work. Separate issues.
skilled workers who are needed for the labor market who arrive legally on visas, pay taxes, abide by the laws of the land are most welcome imo, best of luck to those people who'd like to make a better life for themselves, I've done it myself twice!

What address is it so, it's always been Ballintemple in my lifetime.
Ahhh no... I agree with you., Seems to be ballintemple. Some people try to say it's BlackRock. (And I also probably read your post wrong, ??)

All I was saying is that on some maps you'd look at some places/addresses around the City, could be the City centre, The Lough, Glasheen, and strangely enough, ballintemple also comes up on the same address.

If I come across it again, I'll screenshot it.
