I know people who are reluctant to take their kids to the park because they fear being the victim of racism when they get there.

Immigration shouldn’t be an open door of course but the discourse has been so soured that a significant portion of the public are now blaming immigrants for our problems. Unfortunately some of those will vocalise it to immigrants and some again will turn that hostility physical.

We have a problem with racism in this country.

I know people who are afraid to go to the train station for fear of being raped.

A Spanish left-wing activist who took a North African migrant into her home has now lost control of it.

Estíbaliz Kortazar, from Basauri, rented a room to the man out of solidarity. After the arrangement began, she says he sexually harassed her, repeatedly insulted her (calling her “puta” and “perra sucia”), watched pornography in shared spaces, stopped paying rent, and refused to leave when asked.

When she called the police, officers told her they could do nothing without a court eviction order. The man effectively took over the small apartment. Kortazar eventually fled her own home out of fear, is staying with relatives, and is receiving psychological treatment after a nervous breakdown.

She has launched a petition demanding faster legal processes so she can regain her property.

We have a much bigger problem with criminality in this country. We've enough scumbags of our own thanks very much - including the racist scumbag who attacked that poor guy in front of his boy.

You’re right. We do have a problem with violence against women in this country. We even have a thread on the PROC where that very problem is discussed.

Course you are. You don't want a breakdown by nationality of perpetrators of serious crimes in this country but you bemoan the rise in racism in the information vacuum. Tabulate the details and release them on an annual basis to show that other nationals who've come to Ireland are better, worse, or just the same, as the natives and then we as a country can have an adult conversation on addressing the issues.

We have more than enough scumbags. The Gardai don't have enough to properly fight crime as it is, and any scumbags that come to these shores from abroad are exacerbating the situation.

That train station incident is shocking.

Its appalling. Not identified but an Arabic translator tells us most of what we need to know.

But remember keeping crime statistics by nationality is racist.

My post was about people who are victims of racism. Your post has got absolutely nothing to do with that.
