Immigration Thread

It boggles the mind as to why he would talk about climate change when there is a wildfire emergency in the country!
Better off then focusing on the fires and the migrant emergency rather than getting into what at this time is a secondary issue. Anyway, if the Spanish have good sense then Sanchez will soon be toast.

Gript are right in that Ireland didn’t sign but no context provided.

Ireland could have signed it but chose not to (probably suited them) due to the role of the European presidency -

Role of the Presidency
    • Neutral Chair: The presiding country acts as an honest broker to manage discussions for all member states fairly.
    • Convening Meetings: Rather than lobbying by signing demands, Ireland actively scheduled the emergency Justice and Home Affairs Council meeting.
My point was about Roddy and his ilk.

No better time to be talking about one of the main root causes of the fires than when it’s happening, drives home a need for action.

'New financial accounts for Farrell and McNicholas’s firm K&T Forbairt Holdings Unlimited Company show it earned €28.4 million in revenue in the 12-month period to the end of August 2025, compared to €19.3 million the previous year, and after-tax profits rose from €7 million to €10.1 million.'

-The consolidated accounts for the group have disclosed it controls €19.5 million worth of property'

10.1 million after tax annual profits on assets worth 19.5 million! A normal expected yield on property would be somewhere between 5 and 8%. Their IPAS business is posting returns of 51.79% annually!!! The taxpayer is funding superprofits for a select bunch who are exempt from normal planning laws.

Theres 2 billion+ annually being pissed away on this and we are being told at the same time theres no money for tax cuts or energy subsidies lol.

I agree that money is being wasted as the profits some people are making from this are way too high but is this an immigration issue or a government spending issue? This is one of the symptoms not the root cause, get rid of IPAS and refugees and you still have government overspending such as on the children's hospital, bikes sheds and items such as the below that seem to come out every second week.

Of course there's a link, stop refugees, €1.2 billion saved (last year's spend on asylum accommodation), but that's only right if you don't believe we should be supporting refugees. Wouldn't the better option be to get government to sort out procurement processes and management of finances across the board so that the next gravy train doesn't happen?

And before one of you goes blathering on about they're all illegal, deportations need to be stronger, the post is about the profits people are making from IPAS and my comments are from that perspective only.

🤔
Be careful what you wish for. If PP + Vox get into govt here, it'll be a disaster. They have no coherent policies and all they do is blame Pedro Sanchez for everything. They also have corruption matters hanging over them so are in no position to throw stones.
Do you live in Spain btw Ogre?
