We’ve 174 TDs and we’re supposed to be worried about the one that hasn’t even been close to being elected?

The reason the right (not far right) has gotten more traction is because the ideologues in the left can’t get their shit together enough to put up any semblance of a united front.

People don’t generally give a shit about trans issues, gender identity, 200 year old statues etc

They care about cost of housing, food and fuel.

That’s too mundane for the left to be interested in.

I think Labour try to be more so than the Soc Dems but you are right. People only care about what’s in it for them and the left hasn’t done a very good job of explaining to people why they should vote left.

That said the Soc Dems are doing well but I wonder how much of that is in working class areas.

The left were calling for statistics to be gathered for years coming from the racial profiling angle so it’s not a new thing to say they should be compiled.

Could it possibly be that Somalians make Somalia an unsafe country, and as such Irish Immigration should be very vigilant about people coming from such an unsafe area?

I mean if it was an area where there was a high degree of Ebola that they were coming from, wouldn't you like our Immigration Department to take extra steps to ensure that our population weren't endangered?

By not compiling or, more importantly, releasing the statistics the authorities have left the whole thing completely open to conjecture.


Far right* will claim numbers in excess of reality.
Far left* will claim the numbers as statistically irrelevant.

* There’s no meaningful “far” anything in Ireland.

Hiding statistics for fear of interpretation is a shocking look for any supposedly modern western civilisation.

If the stats are worrying in either case then either

A- just acknowledge it and outline a plan for preventative action

B- use the statistics to quell the fears of folk nervous about “the other”

I read somewhere online that 6 out of the 8 women that have been murdered in the state in 2026 have been killed or suspected to have been killed by non Irish people. Tried to verify this and it's hard to clarify. Does anyone know if this is true?

Of the six actual femicides in 2026 (Scarlett Faulker was allegedly killed by women, so we exclude that )

the suspect/accused/charged in four cases is non-Irish
in one case is Irish-American
and
in one case where the suspect was released without charge, with a file going to the DPP, we don't know, but is probably Irish

The majority of femicides in Ireland (26 counties) in 2026 are committed by non-Irish.

The law regarding identifying asylum seekers needs to be changed.

You had the ludicrous situation yesterday where there's a national manhunt for a killer and the national broadcaster couldn't show a picture or a description.

Btw hes no more a legitimate asylum seeker than Im the president of China. How many more people have to die before the government gets serious about immigration?

Earlier on in the year the same law was used to protect the identity of a crazed Jihadi. Its a matter of public safety.
