Tell me you've never seen a court application without telling me that you've never seen a court application...He probably said it wasn't worth it. He'd most likely be accused of all sorts.

The Judge. There was an application for an interpretor. The guard is perfectly entitled to provide his evidence to the court as part of that.
Do you not understand what direct testimony is? He is not required to prove it, but he can give evidence to the Judge of his experience of the defendant.Again I'll ask, how does the guard prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that the lady in question IS capable of understanding and speaking English?
It would be very difficult to prove categorically that you can speak and understand English, based on your posts here. For example, if I wanted to play dumb it would be very difficult for anyone to prove categorically that I can speak and understand Irish.
I'm not annoyed at all. You post a lot of stuff here that "someone told you". It almost never stands up to any degree of scrutiny.I just thought it worth mentioning as I think it germane to the discussion being had with regard to that defendant who's been here 20 years yet needs an interpreter. You seem to be annoyed that I brought it up.

In your story the guard is in Court for this case, so they have nothing better to do with their time at that momentDo you not understand that Gardai have better things to be doing with their time than try show that a non-native speaker can actually speak and understand english?
Entertaining, and true.I guess that must have sounded very entertaining in your head'
I've noticed. It does appear to be rubbish an awful lot of the time.So you keep claiming and you and your acolytes have even tried to claim I don't even know any gardai. Knock yourself out. I'll keep posting here what I've been told and I believe to be true. You can choose to believe them or not. But I don't think there's any doubt that much of what I post annoys you - especially ANYTHING that might cast any doubt on the legal process in this country.
Meanwhile, there's a guy who's here 20 years and whose brief claims he needs an interpreter - paid for by the state donchaknow.
