Under the human rights conventions we signed up to they need to have due process if they claim asylum…..now if processing is a matter of a couple of months and the law is enforced and they are deported do you really think that there will still be a load of them coming?Economic migrants shouldn't be here without a visa, we have a system for that. They have entered the country illegally, no need to be processed. Send them back to where the departed from immediately. Blaming processing times is a government cop out.
As far as I understand the number of Georgian asylum seekers has dropped significantly as they are on the safe list of countries as they were seen as mainly economic migrants and have faster processing times…..low and behold there’s a drop.
We have the laws but not the resources to do it so invest in that part.
