As of May 13 2025, gov.ie says, approximately 24,400 Ukrainian refugees are residing in government-provided accommodation in Ireland. This includes 680 State-supported accommodation centers. Previously, in August 2024, there were 40,058 Ukrainian beneficiaries of temporary protection living in government-contracted accommodation. The number has decreased since then, as some contracts ended in 2024, releasing over 15,000 beds for other uses.

Up to the end of April the number stands at 4,000 new asylum applicants for the year so far that have come here

Well firstly a 40% reduction is progress in reducing numbers, now if they could get the processing time down to 6 months, as they have to do by signing up to the EU pact, and numbers stay the same then at any one time we should have no more than 6k in the application process and requiring accommodation from the government. If the government enforce the law for deportations etc, increase the speed of processing then this 1k a month could go down a bit further and be fully made up of genuine refugees. Isn't that we want? Are we not on the right path? Or am I missing something here?

Add to that the significant reduction in Ukrainians requiring government accommodation and the pressure should be easing signifcantly.
