Huntley was highly abusive and controlling towards her.

You would be amazed what someone in that situation would do to avoid another beating.

If I'm recalling this correctly' wasn't she writing to him daily from her prison cell.

I recall her being an absolute fucking weirdo.

That case was a real moment in time, absolutely everyone was following it and it was being played out in front of our eyes through the media.

They must have been fairly sure that Huntley was guilty and had the media all over him to put him under a false sense of security.

I can't think of many murder cases in my lifetime that were so high profile. Ian Huntley and Maxine Carr became household names.

Read some of the wiki page after the posts here yesterday.

They were both from Grimsby. Huntly had been accused of rape before and had moved away from there. When he popped up on TV talking about how devastated the local area was, and how he was the last one to see them alive, Grimsby people alerted the cops to it

When Carr provided him with an alibi, Grimsby people also alerted the police to seeing her in Grimsby the night the girls went missing

Huntley had told her about the "false" accusations and having caused him to have a nervous breakdown because of it. Apparently he pleaded with her to give him an alibi so he wouldn't have to go through it again.

She did keep in contact with him for a few months after they were arrested, but cut him off after a few months. She admitted to lying but only for said reason not to cover up a murder. She genuinely believed him and the jury believed her as they found her not guilty of the charge that said she was trying to hide the murder (can't remember the specifics).

What she did was terrible but she's in no way as evil as that cunt. She served her time and if she's been law abiding since, she should be left in peace.

Him on the other hand......

Hard to imagine today that he was able to get a job as a school caretaker despite having been investigated by the police over relationships with underage girls plus rape. It was this case that really led to a tightening up in vetting laws in the UK

That was Damian Bendall, he attacked another prisoner with a hammer but had nothing to do with Huntley.
