How far removed are you from the land

The 8th of December culchie thread made me think of this. How far back would you have to go on either side of your family to find a farmer?

For me, Grandfathers on both sides were farmers. Parents were not, none of my siblings are.

My brood ended up on this land of the setting sun by way of Dublin, and England before that. My father's side have a real Sasanach family name, while my mother's is as Irish as a blighted potato.

My ancestors were people who chucked peasants out on their ear on behalf of absentee landlords. I may also be directly related to Slobodan Miloševi?.

I'm more scorched earth than tilled soil.

Tbf, it all adds up.

I went to the town in the Pyrenees were my father's family name originates from last Summer. Mad to see your family name in a Spanish town. It does explain my great love of croquettes though ;-)

My mother's family were certainly English back along, possibly German prior to that.

Recent enough converts to Catholicism on both sides.
