Agree, but it's one of those places you still have to go and see! I cant think of anywhere else like it, but id definitely go at a quieter time
Milan is a great city as well
Go to Rome if you haven't been SoundY, you're mad for your history* and theres nowhere quite like the place in that regard, ione of those cities where you wander round a corner and theres a pantheon or fountain from hundreds of years ago sitting there as part of the fabric of the street
If you want to get away from the cites then you could head north from Rome to Tuscany - some really beautiful villages and ports and mountain regions there and some of the best wines in Italy
