We dont talk about BrunoDo you think they missed Bruno?
No idea. This is my second time watching them since the last euros.
And tbh I was way more focused on our lads.
I am all for positivity but this is a reactionary post. It wasn’t long ago we were embarrassed by Armenia away and only for a red card, probably wouldn’t have beaten them at home. I refuse to believe any corner has been turned by anyone until I see good results more consistently and that very much includes Sunday. What a night in the Aviva! Beating Portugal 2-0 with Ronaldo getting sent off. You couldn't write it! Our best performance since beating Germany 10 years ago. Heimir to his credit, is learning about his squad and now starting to see what works best for our team. A good defensive system, good honest hard work, organisation and communication, pace in the counter attack and pick them off in set pieces. The Ireland way! But since the return of Séamus Coleman, we've turned our performances around. He is a true leader and a driver of our intensity and performance levels. I think Ferguson being unavailable was a blessing in disguise. Parrott brings more energy to the role up front which is needed against the big teams, supplemented by Ogbene's pace. Our bench looks much stronger now too. A tough assignment in Hungary to come this Sunday. Hopefully we can build on tonight and leave it all in Budapest.
Glad I ended up watching it good on Ireland.
Absolutely! We have to wait and see if we can back this performance up on Sunday. I'm giving Heimir some credit tonight because he got it right and was responsible for preparing and setting up a team for a brilliant performance in a must-win game against good opposition. Before that, he had very little time to settle in and was unable to put his stamp on the team. Have we turned a corner? Not yet. We are only half way around the corner. A win on Sunday, and I would definitely say we've turned a corner. If we don't win on Sunday, we are back to square one but at least tonight's win will give us some light of hope going forward.I am all for positivity but this is a reactionary post. Credit due to everyone involved tonight, it was a super win and deserved but I do think Portugal already being qualified played a part in it too. Hungary away Sunday, win or bust, let’s be seeing these lads back it up!
