I would have assumed he’d be a regular starter for Everton if coming from starting regularly and playing well regularly for Lyon but Dyche prefers others ahead of him. Hindsight is great and all but I thought it looked a decent move at the time.

On last night, I thought the first half was good enough for the level of players we have in comparison to England. The shape was good and we should have had a pen. The red card and pen lead to a collapse which demonstrates who fragile the players still are despite some improved results against poor opposition. There isn’t an excuse for collapsing like that so quickl, 10 men or not.

I can understand the financial aspect certainly (its a short career and injuries etc), but he was embedded into a decent Lyon team who are currently in Europe and 2 pts of a CL place in France. They absolutely loved him there.

He's now 4th choice at Everton and watching lads jump above him internationally. At some point you have to put your career first and back yourself that the big contract will come along in time.

He probably needs a loan now in January which is insanity considering where was at the end of last season.

Plus he's moved from Lyon to Liverpool. That must be grim.

Slightly off topic but whoever advised Jake O Brien to make that move to Everton should be shot out of a cannon.

I know the wages tend to be higher, but I don't understand the obsession of Irish players with having to move to either championship or, at best, relegation threatened prem clubs, above all else with the opportunities elsewhere in Europe.

living in sweden i’d watch the odd match when they play. they beat slovakia last night 2-1 with players from the EFL championship,
premier league, sporting lisbon,
aek athens, series a, ligue 1 and a lad who plays in the national league in the starting ix.

yeah, i get it that LOI is dog shit right now but fellas should definitely be looking to play in eredivise, ligue 1, second division bundesliga or even in turkey to get used to playing under pressure. the boat to england hasn’t the capacity it used to.

as ye say, who knows who’s watching and the big contract could come on the back of it.
