I thought the same about Festy. Two really poor performances against Portugal/Hungary. Bit strange really as he looked like he could be close to nailing down a starting place only a while back. He’ll lose his squad place if this continues.

I never really rated Parrott that highly. I remember him being on loan at Ipswich. He only scored a couple which was dissapointing but supporters said he works his bolox off. Add goals to that and he’ll be a top player. His 2nd today was world class.

On Parrott, we all saw him emerge and he seemed a serious talent, the move to Spurs and change of manager just seemed too much for him to take. To be fair to him he clearly doesn’t have an ego and was willing to drop the levels and get first team football again. You always hear strikers talk about how confidence and continuity is everything, he’s got both now and he’s flying. He’s just scored 2 goals we don’t associate with Ireland anymore because we haven’t had strikers with the quality to score them - the 2nd goal on Thursday were he got the near post, and the 2nd today when he chipped the keeper.. 2 sublime finishes that take savage levels of ability and composure to pull off

And then the fella is interviewed and he’s the most humble, decent guy who had the best day of his life, and then goes and has the new best day of his life 3 days later
