Have you ever been surveyed by the CSO?

I'm fascinated by their sampling and statistical methods.

I've never been surveyed by them but herself got a letter last month asking her to track her spending for 14 days, and in return she'd get a "gift voucher". She fucked the letter in the bin. Yer man and his lanyard called back a week later to follow up on it, I just had to tell him to go away.

You wouldn't mind answering a few questions at the door, but a 14 day spending journal ffs.

In the bar I used work in we used frequently get CSO letters about our obligation to participate in their retail sales survey, and they were always turfed in the waste paper basket too.

I just don't see how anything they produce can be accurate if they're relying on statistical projections rather than a decent sample of responses.

Anyone got anything to contribute?

Do they not make their predictions from all the responses they get?

Is it that you believe nobody fills out the CSO surveys (based on your own sample of your wife and a pub owner) so they are churning out data based on very few responses?

Not at all, I'd just love to know what sample sizes they're using and if there's a threshold below which they won't make projections if they haven't had enough responses

Here's one that might be of interest to a few lads on here...

What you talking about Willis. Apparently all our kids are going to have jobs in the future and the housing situation is going to get much better.
Outdagap said it so it must be true.
