GAA Stadium Facilities

Completely disagree, it is all the razzmatazz that is killing sports events and it is self fulfilling.

If a large cohort of people go to a game for the entertainment, the worse the atmosphere, the greater need to jazz things up, the more non supporters attend, the worse the atmosphere becomes, the more the need to jazz it up etc etc

Yeah, theres not much of a difference in the match day experience today as there was 25 years ago which is in itself reassuring. milky mints and maniac 2000, a potent mix.

I went to get a cuppa in the North Stand last year and I swear that the table with the milk and sugar came from Cook Street.

Nah, do places get it wrong sometimes yes absolutely.

Music too loud, being played during breaks in play. No thanks

Specifically I'm taking about before the match, at half time and immediately after the match.

Simple things.

Fan zones outside of the ground.

Sponsor people to go and paint red and white onto kids cheeks.

Flags for kids paid for by sponsors.

Jacks that flush and don't look like they were fished out of a skip after Feile 93

Sport no longer has automatic primacy in youth culture..

All sport need to recognise they are an entertainment product and do what they can to keep punters entertained

Agree 100%!

I specifically don’t want that shite at GAA. I love my trips to the likes of Semple, it’s an entirely different experience to any other sport and that’s the point. GAA is tribal with scores being traded regularly, it has no need for the rogby ‘entertainment’ flame throwers to entertain people during the periods of nothingness

The day a GAA experience looks anything like a UK soccer match day, or rugby match in the Aviva is the day the corporate experience has taken over and the real supporters lose out.

erra thats too much of a generalisation. have you ever been to an irish game in the aviva? the atmosphere for the scotland game in march was fantastic. a lot of its down to the game and the form the team are in. in any code. yeah there was a great atmosphere down the pairc sunday but did you see the footage of mchale park. cork are lucky theyre drawing a savage crowd as theres a shot of an all ireland the last few years but that can change quickly.

I never touch the slop they serve up at matches be it food or drink.

I’ll go for food somewhere decent before hand or eat at home and go for pints somewhere that doesn’t have plastic cups for 8quid.

The food isn’t fit for animal consumption not to mind humans, it’s just about acceptable for Clare people tbh.

The one thing that they do better than all other sports is keeping access to the players.

The players lingering on afterwards to take selfies and sign Jerseys is the one thing they do do well. But that's generally ad hoc and down the the players themselves.

I do think that stopping the pitch invasions was necessary but the GAA should do everything they can to be more fan friendly.

Let the kids on for a puck about if you can

Otherwise I disagree with you. You'll go to the matches anyway. the other stuff is required to ensure your kids and grandkids go without you dragging them
