GAA introduces charge for children's Allianz League tickets

Was straight up on my horse about this when I heard this. Reading more into it I can now see the reasoning. Its more to do with un- monitored youths running free around the stadiums etc. Of course they could have made it compulsory with an adult ticket and no charge.

If they wanted to do that they just would have kept u12s free.

If they wanted to ensure no overcrowding at big games they would have just issued tickets for kids at point up purchase say 3 per adult.

If 12 year olds are being attacked in stands at GAA grounds that is a major security concern but nothing to do with kids getting in free.

This is a revenue generating opportunity, the fiver will be a tenner in about 3 years

Ultimately they will lose casual attending adults because €20 and bring 2 kids is way better than €30 particularly if the kids aren't bothered, and eventually all the kids when they grow up won't give as much of a shit because they never went when they were small
Really good points there and I think it’s an excellent idea to keep U12s free. Hopefully this will be brought up at Co Board meetings and subsequently at the next meeting of the Ard Comhairle.

Knowing people in background involved on matchdays in SV PUC, at both hurling championship games there was lots of activity by underage teenagers on the blackrock terrace. Terrace had to be cleared by stewards before Springsteens crowd came in. Terrace covered in vodka bottles. young teenagers collapsing and ending up in medical room, parents had to be called etc. This is 1 of the main reasons.
Get a train from east cork to Cork before 1 of these championship games and its rammed with YOUNG teenagers, consuming etc and consuming on the terraces also.

its 5 euro. But its ok to hop on a plane to England, book a hotel and pay for premier leagues games, 1 or 2 times a year i suppose.

Don't under 16's need tickets for championship games anyway? This new rule is only for league games. I've never seen underage drinking at league games in Cork tbh.

It won't stop underage drinking at championship games but sure look it adds to the atmosphere and just don't go into the middle of the terrace if you want to avoid it.

Correct, the GAA reasoning on this one makes no sense, the terrace doesn't even open for most league games anyways

They would have had tickets for those games and paid for them, so your argument is pointless now.
