An overhaul of the process is really what needs to happen right now, far too many appeals are successful based on archaic procedures not being followed to the exact letter rather than the actual merits of the case, which are not in doubt.

It's a long held tradition. Nemo beat the Barrs in senior huing in 1926 on the basis of a letter not being in a valid envelope
 
That's the job. If you appeal thinking you'll get off be prepared for the possibility of actually getting more punishment added. Good stuff from Leinster council 3 players getting 48 weeks is enough to hurt a lot of panels

I will say the Dublin club seemed to get away handy enough though
