Tele customs are great sounding, a lot of indie/alt bands in the 90s used them
A very distinctive sound
Much prefer them over les Pauls

Ya I heard about fender going legal over the copies
It was similar to Gibson going after other brands like Ibanez, ie lawsuit guitars back in the day, mainly over headstock shape
A lot of well known bands used Ibanez copies of the Flying V for example

Fender will find it difficult to fight it I imagine

You can get some great sounding Teles - once they're fitted with humbuckers or hot rails. I had a '72 Thinline (90s MI-USA re-issue) but I sold it on. Regretted it afterwards.

My issue with Teles is the top profile on the body, the thing is designed to break ribs.

These days I have one Stratocaster (my first proper electric - a Squire MIJ from the mid-80s - not the Chinese shit they sell now). Everything else is a Gibson (MI-USA 1995 - 2009) - Les Paul Standards and SG Standards.

I'd love a Les Paul Custom or an original Yamaha SG2000.

I don't really like anything else. Though I did play a Reverend Z-One a while back and was quite taken with it.

Ya the Seymour Duncan hot rails have a screaming tone to it

Personally, my favourite pickup is the single coil telecaster bridge sound, nothing beats it
My dream guitar is a single pickup esquire, or a 1951 tele (If I won the euromillions!)

+1 for the 80s squier , a neighbour had one and the tone would beat most MIA and Mexican strats, the Japanese plants churned out amazing builds and the electronics were American afaik

On the subject of Tele's, my favorite guitar I own is a purple sparkle Squier Deluxe Tele.

I have more expensive guitars, but they're ones that loads of other people have as well. I've never seen another one of these.

Around 6 years ago I was walking past Pro Musica and saw it in the window and stopped. I went in and asked could I play it, so they went and got out out of the window and plugged it in and wow. But at the same time I said I couldn't just randomly drop €500 on a guitar so I left it off. I went to the Mutton for a pint and realised how sickened I'd be if someone else got it, so I went straight back down and bought it.

You could throw this thing down the stairs and it'd still be in tune. The Tele Deluxe design is more like a strat at the back, so it's very comfortable to play. No pictures can do justice to the colour of it.

Crowleys have a second had squier jazzmaster in shell pink and really stands out

I bet that tele really screams!

Speaking of unique guitars, the Hello Kitty squier Strat is very sought after, going for north of €800 on eBay and reverb

They're as good as Fenders.

When you're buying a Fender it could be American, Mexican, or Japanese made, and the quality and price of each varies.

Just buy a Squire and throw a fancy pickup into it if needs be.

Same with Ephiphone. Why spend thousands on a Gibson when you can be a perfectly good Ephiphone and put a P90 into it
