in the wake of peter cananvans retirement there has been some talk of him being the player of his generation. he's a list of what i would consider to be the best players of the last 20 odd years. vote on

honourable mentions who didn't make my list
steven o brien, colm o rouke, martin o connell, mickey linden, martin mchugh, padraig joyce, seamus moynihan, steven mcdonnel. all great players but not quite player of the last 20 years.

feel free to add some i've forgotten

Great player indeed, but a little excessive to say he`s the player of his generation. Anybody on your list was probably a better player IMO.

He wasn't the best player in the country at his peak 5 years ago. The only reason it's being mentioned is because all those of a similar age are retired. A fine footballer but definitely not the best.

RTE pay a lot of money for those games, so its important for viewers to believe they're watching the best around. Thats the only thing that sways the non-GAA fan to watch the bigger games. This may remind you of the coverage we get of another sport. This similarity is not a coincidence.

WHat about Mick Lyons from Meath??? Denied Cork a few All-Irelands.

Just throwing his name out there

I would agree, thought about saying htat yesterday but couldn't be arsed as I expected that a row would kick off and abuse would be thrown.
Fair play!! (I will admit that this could be the first time that the words fair play and Mick Lyons appeared so close together though!!)

What about Jayo....

i think o rourke and stafford were better players on that team than lyons, and i think colman corrigan and steven o brien were better full backs in that era.

jayo was, is and always will be shit
