Fitzgibbon Cup

Matthew Fitzgerald who couldn't even play Fitz hurling because he's a fresher is a super hurler, could well be starting for Limerick this season, especially if Hayes isn't back. Has more potential than Coughlan in my opinion.
Fitz will start this year i think in some of munster games , could be dependant ok on hayes being back but good hurler

Don't think there was more than 1 or 2 heavy tackles in the game. Hard to get excited about it ,although there was some lovely scores

Mary I. 3_21
UL. 4_31

Full time score , UL much the stronger side , hard to hear much support in big open stadium but some nice skills on view from both sets of players .
Jack Leahy looked excellent tonight, albeit it certainly was a night for forwards. Adam English and Shane O' Brien looked a class apart alright. Cathal O' Neill seems to be finding his swagger again. Colin Coughlan showed up well tonight and is a good hurler who you'd like to see eventually make his breakthrough.

Leahy has a good eye for goal and good positional sense . Coughlan is solid defender and still young only 24 this year so could push on

In any other county, leahy would probably be a starter ,or at least very close to it anyway
He's a v talented player, no doubt about that - accurate, good eye for goal, good free taker. Has won some share of trophies for his age: AI minor & U20, Cork championship with Imokilky, back-to-back Fitzgibbons. The one issue I see with him is that of winning primary possession. All those winning teams were pretty dominant sides, which means he was being fed a supply of decent 60/40 ball. I think he has struggled in the past when the ball in isn't as good, or he has a sticky fast marker. That said, he is certainly worth a look for Cork - I was a little surprised he wasn't in the 36 named for the league, and I'm v happy to hear he is back training with them.

MTU had a good win in the fresher hurling QF the other night against NUIG. Anyone know the team. Can’t seem to find a report anywhere

Fresher Hurling semi final:
UL 8-32 (56) vs 0-12 (12) UCC
MTU 4.28 vs ATU Galway 5.25 (ATU win 4-3 on penalties

That must be the worst defeat ever for UCC in a top grade competition???
