Fitzgibbon Cup

Joke of a pitch in a place totally fucking out of the way of anyone trying to get there, the gaa have a superb facility in abjotstown which is like a ghost town and should be used for these type of fixtures

I just noticed an empty pristine 4G pitch alongside the “field” where the game was played. Ironic and insulting to both teams in my opinion.
That's the Dome which blew down in the winds, the ashbourne camogie final was there last weekend that UCC played in.
I think fitzgibbon was due to be there too but the colleges wanted the grass pitch so I suppose even though it was poor thats where the players wanted it

I was just checking there and I dont think any Fitz matches were played on 4G this year butat Harty Cup there are a good few played all right, yesterday was a joke-if you have a big televised match like a Fitz final, in winter the pitch should be kept for that at least a week in advance. As for hurling on 4G I think it is like good summer ground, not sure if there are injury concerns, in football/soccer you have the starnge ball bounce.

The college competition finals are moved around every year lads. Last year they were all in Tralee with the Fitz Final on in Abbeydorney. Mallow has hosted in recent years too. Looking back at the refs from other years, it seems whoever ref'd the All Ireland final the previous year is also given the Fitz final regardless where they're from.

UL were prob always going to win that game anyway. Star studded team. Great to see Colin come back on after he got injured earlier this year, ironically, against DCU in the league final
