Fire Safety In Cork Pubs.

How do you get to it from the pub though Yer?
There's a wall at that end of the bar afaicr.

The pub has two entrances on to the lane from memory. The fire (god forbid) won't block both entrances/exits before the alarm is raised. Once you're out onto the lane in good time it should be easy enough to avoid the flames.

I think a public venue with one single door would be very restricted in numbers it would be allowed accomodate, think the presence of stairs and overall area would be factors too. Similar sized venue with a door either end would have a much higher capacity passed by the Fire Brigade. There's a science to calculating the max number for given physical conditions afaik

Actually naming pubs and accusing these pubs of potentially putting their customers in danger from a lofty perch in sunny Spain. Demented behaviour bud. Delete the names of the pubs at least ffs. You're around long enough. Have a bit of cop on.

When was the last time there was actually a fire in a pub that had people in it at the time?

I used drink in a pub in Wiener Neustadt in Austria, called Clumsy's. It was a "British" pub but the barman was actually from Cork. Used work in Fredz.

One night anyway they closed up at the end of the night. Overnight, a fire started and it burned to the ground.

When the fire crew went in they found a young lad dead in the jacks. He had passed out in there and the staff never checked them at the end of the night. Awful tragedy, it never reopened.

Just thinking how safe are they in the event of a fire breaking out when the pub is busy. How many, if any, have fire exits? Are they legally obliged to have them?
The late, great Vineyard would have been a death trap. The Mutton Lane, The Long Valley or Dan Lowrey's are others that spring to mind as not having fire exits

The Vineyard had a fire exit out into the laneway from the corridor where the toilets were.
