Speaker in Finglas - "the only way to stop this is to burn them out."
Cheers from the crowd.
All because their tiny racist Nazi was arrested?
These far-right protestors are some of the stupidest people in the State.
How many votes would get even get in an election?
Not enough to elect anybody as their demographic hardly votes anyway.
So depressing looking at various media outlets these days. And the numbers seem to keep growing. A couple of hundred out protesting locally IS a big number considering we are pretty dormant as a country when it comes to any sort of activism. Woe to the man who sneers at these protests and the concerns of these communities, as has been the case when all this started kicking off. In-power and opposition politicians sneering, stating that they are not protests but acts of hate. Bollocks. They are protests, just not to their liking. Call them stupid all you like, ignore them at your peril.
The opposition had a free ride over the past couple of decades with housing, water, Repeal, marriage etc, where they capitalised on frustrations and were elevated to positions beyond their wildest dreams. They ain't touching this fucker as they either don't believe in the cause or, are selfishly towing whatever party line they need to. That leaves these communities voiceless and into that vacuum steps the Far-Right, to consolidate their own standing and to give leadership where there is none.
Allowing for mob-mentality, cheering on incitement to murder is about as dark as it can get IMO and the blame for all of this lies squarely at a) the doors of whichever of the big 2 who oversaw this shit show of a country since the Tiger collapse. 0 foresight. 0 plan B, just throw the plebs a few cents at budget time and watch them bark like seals and b) the so called opposition who took for granted the loyalty of their support base and sneered at them for daring to think independent of their mentorship.
Solutions?? Fuck knows TBH, all well and good shouting and roaring in retrospect. It can't be ignored however, that if the government state that we cannot adequately house future predicted refugee numbers, then stop for now. Taking them in to be sleeping in makeshift tents and folding beds or worse still, on the streets is an admission of failure. Cramming them in to reception centres with little to no dignity afforded is an insult to these people. Finally, giving the Irish people the big 2 fingers when it comes to housing opportunities, whether social or private, also needs to stop. Challenging times for those who's responsibility it is to fix this, but that's what they get paid the big bobs for. As an old Sergeant Major used to say to us prior to every task, as an instruction more than a statement "Leaders, lead!", or in our case, Representatives, represent!
