Eurovision

Who gives a shite about this outdated and musically irrelevant garbage
An abolute pile of people. Anyone who says Eurovision is outdated and irrelevant is plain wrong.

It's okay to not like it or think that its shite but it's a fuckin behemoth.

Something like 150million people watch some bit of it live annually and they do big streaming numbers too on youtube and insta. People click and engage with it and follow through by voting and all the rest. It's a marketeers dream.

It gets about 60% of young people viewing share annually which in a fragmented market is huge.

It drives mega numbers of eyes to the host countries and they use it as a platform to sell tourism in that country. All those little clips of attractive young wans climbing mountains amd drinking cocktails work great when sellimg to a primarily wealthy, well educated European demographic.

I don't watch it but it's a remarkable piece of theatre the level of razzmatazz and stagecraft that they out on because all those people understand the value it can bring.

I would guess in terms of revenue return vs spend were ireland to host it in future it would do more for return on investment than any equivalent sporting event like the Ryder cup or a UEFA cup final or whatever.

I accept all of that is true but it’s more of a cultural event now than a music one. The music is almost of secondary importance.

In the past the contest has brought acts like ABBA and Celine Dion into huge success but I can’t remember the last time a Eurovision entry went on and even had a mediocre level of success as an artist.

Yes, I was probably wrong to call it outdated but I do stand by my assertion that it’s musically irrelevant.

What part of "got a great reception from the crowd tonight" did you fail to understand you bum.

Nice selfie there.

If we can't win with a half decent song how are we meant to with the turd we entered this year?

The ending way too dragged out last night, the presenters were obnoxious and charmless, especially the younger one.

It's a terrible show and having Israel in it just adds to the awfulness.
