Euro 28

Let's be clear.
Original proposal was the Maze.
Shot down by loyalists.
The next proposal was Casement.
Original cost way back when bid was made was obviously less than now but the current cost isn't remotely 300 million.

It is being blocked and has been removed from the Euro 28 bid, not because of the cost but because loyalists don't want it.

It will be built.

But the building revenue, contractor revenue, billions in Euro revenue to Belfast and surrounding areas from tourism etc is now being lost for no other reason than loyalists don't want Casement to be rebuilt for Euros - when it was not the GAA or Dublin government who proposed it - it was WM. That's loyalty for ya.

Casement and the Nordies being out of it should increase our own chances of getting into the competition. The word is UEFA will reserve two automatic spots for host nations that don't make it through qualification. If that's the case, we just need 2 of the other 3 nations to make it through qualification. England obviously will and you'd also fancy the current Scotland team.

Watching Jarlath Burns earlier expressing his dissapointment at the decision, Jarlath knows full well the stadium will be funded and built, losing out on the euros wont see him lose a wink of sleep.

I don’t know how you can declare that as a fact, when the cost of labour/materials etc has gone through the roof. Coupled with the fact the Aviva, a similar style stadium cost over 400 million, 14 years ago.

They're not building an Aviva.
No one knows the fact.
If everyone could only post what they know to be verifiable fact there'd be little or no posts.

However, from tracking the story over the last few months and when the prospective cost of 400 mill came out - it was flatly refuted and clearly a position declared to end Casement for the Euros.

The WM government proposed Casement.
The Tory implosion placated the loyalists.
It's a disgrace for Belfast, for NI, even for the GAWA army.

They are building a very similar stadium to the Aviva which cost over 400 million 14 years ago, that is a fact.
Who refuted the cost, link?
