English Football Championship Thread

Good friday 2019, Leeds were top of the table , Home to wigan, Leeds went one up and could have been 3, Somehow lost 2 1,
Ended up in playoffs, First leg away to Derby Leeds won 1 0, 2nd leg went one up to make it 2 0 on agg,
Lost 4 2,

It's absolutely murder at the top.
Sheffield utd lost at the weekend but could still catch the top 2 and Boro, Coventry, West Brom, Millwall and even Watford still in with a chance of making the playoffs.

Burnley V SU on Easter Monday a massive game. Whoever wins that has their destiny in their own hands, assuming they don't drop points in two fixtures before that.
Burnley have the advantage - playing at home and only need a draw (as things stand).

Tight at bottom too - only six points separating teams from 16th to 23nd!!

The tight run-in is one of the standout features of the Championship every year. Here we go again - 5 games to go and not a single team can say with certainty that they will be in the same division next season:
  • All the way from the top down to Oxford - 18th place in the table - can mathematically still make the playoffs

  • All the way from the bottom up to West Brom - 8th in the table - can mathematically still be relegated
That's an overlap of 11 teams that could still go up or down.

And, as usual, automatic promotion is not certain for any of the top teams - one of Leeds, Burnely, Sheffield are going to find themselves reluctantly dragged into the playoffs where they'll meet teams delighted to be there and will have to drag themselves up off the floor to compete again.

Absolute box-office every season.
