Was on Radio One last week talking about how his career ended early and the depression that followed. Was very articualte in explaining what he went through and how a lot of ex pro's end up in severe financial difficulty, alcoholics etc because after football (which is a very short career and not all are earning mega bucks) they have no transferable skills and no idea what to do with the rest of thier life.
He spoke brilliantly about it all and how the PFA need to do more for thse guys
As for football analysis, I find him quite good too. Matched up well with Brady during the euro's who has been doing this a lot longer than him.
I've read a fair few of his newspaper articles and what he offers is a relatively recent insight into the life of a pro soccer player. But he also has the added dimension of being a past Board member of St. Pats. Once you realise Millwall aren't Man U and St. Pat's aren't Seville it's easier to take on board what he's saying. The openness about depression is welcome too.
