I presume there will be similar stats to below re cars. It's common sense, there is no safety mechanism with these, they are not regulated properly, half the fucked don't follow rules of the road, surgeons and Gardai want them banned. I can see them being banned down the road tbh.

Better roads, improved safety features, less drink driving , tighter laws on provisional drivers all play their part..

But why can a country like Germany allow then for over 14s and seemingly not have the problem we have.

I’m convinced it’s enforcement. It’s possible to ride a scooter safely.

We can't have nice things in this country. Doctors are pleading to ban them as they are seeing loads of horrific injuries and deaths. You didn't just pick your self off the ground coming off one of them at 30 kmphs. Some fuckwits are then able to do 60 plus kmph on them, hit a stone and you'd know about that. Be like a shopping trolley coming down Patrick's hill.
Of course also , they are magnets to scumbags. No good will come of them.

Maybe your average German teenager isn't as thick as their Irish counterpart.

I've seen suicidal behaviour by teens on Escooters, we all have, but I also seen people using them to commute and it's not fair to punish those users so long as they procceed with due care.

Precisely. A friend of mine was involved in a collision on his motorbike, completely fucked up his arm and shoulder. He was only doing 30kmh.

He had his helmet and leathers still skidded down the road on tarmac. Shredded.

Can you imagine the effect of that wearing a t-shirt. Horrific. Youre literally talking about flesh and muscle deteriorating to the bone. Easier methods to maim yourself.
