Dunboy Castle Hotel

I don't think it ever opened.

An awful lot of money sunk into it for a hotel that never opened.

Yup - afaik it never opened.

There were a couple of young fellas drowned there too, the year before last. I would say alot of locals wouldnt want to go there because of that. Not nice to sit having a pint looking out to where some local kids were killed like.

No, it never opened. The banks pulled the plug. A well known Cork builder is owed €13 million, as a result.

Could be in NAMA at this stage, who knows.

It was supposed to be run by Capella Hotels, the same crowd who used to run (but not own)the Castlemartyr Resort Hotel. They have since pulled out of operating hotels in Ireland, and I can only assume the Dunboy hotel is with NAMA.

p j hegartys were building that place, they opened for a weekend last year i think to show the progress to the banks and to get the rest of the money to finish it,had a huge temporary fit out costing quite a few euro and got the plug pulled on it
