And no, I have never driven a HGV, I never said I had. I have simply made the point that most people who want to drive them manage to get the licence to do so, it cant be that difficult. There are all sorts of considerations you'd have to get your head around like any new skill but I am certain i would get there like most people

Dublin bus advertise on the buses what they will pay new drivers - they have a campaign going right now. it is certainly not cheap labour, that narrative just satisfies racist dopes because they cant process actual information

I'm in transport , wages have been slashed almost in half last 10 years ,impossible for any young fella to make a living from it now , it's all foreign drivers taking up the jobs now ,courtesy of a 7k grant to the company to hire foreign from our government.
They are doing wreck , I see it everyday , I even saw it today .
I brought my young fella to do his driver test a few years back and while waiting for him to return an Indian man rocked up in a car on his own with at least an L plate. The tester came outside to do the checks and the guy had no brake lights , he actually came to the test alone with no brake lights working. The thing that baffled me the most was the tester seemed to give him time to rummage through some plastic bag in his car, ,I don't know what he was looking for ,but concluded that he must have been looking for some bulbs
BTW, it's very hard to get a hgv licence now and alot of money , 250 euro a lesson. If you're irish that is.

He is spot on about the haulage companies and I heard this first hand. One particular company went outside of the EU to recruit foreign drivers because it was cheaper than paying Irish ones. Re the bus driver. You see buses on the road all the time with trainee drivers, they all have to pass the same test so no problem there, I'd find it hard to believe they'd lower the standard just to get drivers. I reckon this is a case of reckless driving, on the phone is where my money is at. Plenty of photos of her online, doesn't look like she had a heart attack at all.
