Dublin... Is a fucking shithole

One of mine was up there for the weekend with his pals. These lads would be serious units if it came to handbags at dawn stuff but said O Connell Street had an edgy feel to it.

They decided to drink in various pubs on the Northside ( €8.50 for a Guinness) and had good banter with the locals.

Asking about the atmosphere on O Connell Street the reply received was that dubs avoid it now......

Couldn't help wondering if that's what's ahead for our own Patrick Street.

I live up here ,well close enough county wicklow and concur ,there is an edge to walking around city centre that wasn't there really to suchvan extent before. Friends who live closer to town say it happened during and after covid where all the "scrotes " instead of going around with hoodies up were now going around in masks and hoodies ,a general lack of on the ground policing led to an element who felt they could get away with anything and it has prevailed to a degree. Used to love going into town meeting friends for pints and have been a few times lately and found it fine but there is still a lot of anti social behaviour reported daily

Not even close. Our scrotes are Junior B level compared to premier senior level that they have to deal with in and around O' Connell Street.
Got worse around Pana in recent times but tame enough compared to Dumplin. My folks in their late 80s will still walk down Pana and surrounding streets fairly regularly. They wouldn't go next or near O' Connell St albeit they visit Dublin every now and again on the free travel pass!!

Honest to God whether it was release time or ppl getting their methadone
The fuckin street was full of loopers,
Dangerous looking fuckers,
Mixture of pikeys and settled scrotes,
Went into one of my ‘ boutiques’
( grot shop as Homer calls them( charity shop)
And 2 other fuckin lunatics barging there way around the place and roaring
- off their faces)
Can only guess that there’s gonna be bother after
