Heavy enough loss for Midleton against Nenagh. 3-19 to 2-14. Midleton scored a goal in last couple minutes… Nenagh would be strong but still disappointing

Nenagh's ball handing was far superior.
Midleton must have had 15 wides.

Thought Tom Walsh fought hard in midfield. Dunne must have got 1-13 from centre forward

Cork schools have fallen so so far behind. Mainly vis-a-vis Tipp schools. It’s a worry for our underage and adult county teams going forward. Saying it for years, Cork City is a black spot for schools hurling. Surely this is something that the county board can be doing more to support.

Sure it's no wonder Tipp are winning an AI or two at minor, U-20 and Senior every year. Look how strong their schools are. 3 different schools won the Harty the past few years meanwhile we're hoping we can get out of the groups with maybe one school (Midleton) going deep into the competition.

Midleton had 6 or 7 Co minors from last year playing and still got hammered

A very poor year for Cork's fortunes in the Harty Cup. It is a small concern of mine. Take our small rise in Harty Cup performances between 2015 and 2020 out of it, we've fallen back into a bit of a rut in schools hurling.

Here is a trend of how this year's Harty went:

Schools by county who partook in this year's Harty Cup:

Tipp x5
Cork x4
Limerick x3
Clare x2
Waterford x2

Schools by county who progressed to the Last 8 in this year's Harty Cup:

Tipp x3
Waterford x2
Clare x2
Cork x1
Limerick x0

Schools by county who progressed to the Last 4 in this year's Harty Cup:

Tipp x2
Clare x1
Waterford x0
Cork x0
Limerick x0

*Flannans (Clare) and Our Lady's (Tipp) have yet to play their QF, so Tipp could potentially have 3 Semi-finalists or Clare have 2 semi-finalists.

Cork and Limerick schools performed the worst. Some Limerick GAA people have said to me they are fearful a dry period is incoming for them, albeit after a golden generation. Clare have been solid in recent years at underage. Waterford underage hurling is starting to climb a bit again. Tipp continue to be the top performing county at schools level in Munster.

Isn't there a year of an age gap between both teams today? Peter Barrett and Adam Lee are a huge loss as they are still underage but gone from school.
