We are talking Hurling here not education so it is the Mon despite the name.
Charleville CBS currently have 258 boys enrolled in their school. Compare that with St. Colmans with 719 boys, CBC with 912 boys and Midleton CBS with 949 boys enrolled. That is punching above their weight, in my opinion.What numbers? They have 12 feeder schools and over hundred first years every year.
Colman’s would also have lost some of its hinterland with the advent of the Denis Ring fuelled Blackwater Community School.Midleton CBS seem the powerhouse of Cork colleges hurling. Colmans have fallen off a cliff since the boarders and cheque book have vanished. CBC seem strong at times too but in reality the spread of Tipp schools showed the strength of their underage.
