An absolutely crazy story has broken in France on Tuesday morning: ex-Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse has been arrested over alleged sextape blackmail of Mathieu Valbuena.

According to Le Figaro, four people were arrested in total.

Djibril Cisse is expected to be released shortly.

No other details have been released regarding the incident.

31-year-old Mathieu Valbuena currently plays for Lyon, while the pint-sized midfielder was recently caught up in another major incident when he returned to Marseille with his current employers.

When Djibril Cisse was arrested in connection with a sex tape blackmail plot against Mathieu Valbuena we all thought it was a bit hilarious and quickly forgot about it when the former Liverpool striker was released without charge.

However, it cropped up again yesterday and this time it was Karim Benzema who was taken into custody. Given that he's a Real Madrid star and all that it seemed unlikely that he was involved in any kind of criminal wrongdoing, particularly in relation to a France teammate.

However, reports are emerging in France today that Benzema has now confessed to having been involved in the plan to extort money from the Lyon winger.


According to French prosecutors;

Karim Benzema has been taken to the court to appear before an investigating magistrate who will decide what happens next in the procedure.
Although a lawyer for the Benzema has said that he 'has nothing to do with this matter' it is being speculated that the Benzema will be placed under judicial control meaning he will not be allowed to return to Madrid for the immediate future.
