DJ Carey

On topic - there's really no walking this back in any form for Carey is there?

Mange mentioned that he could do a ghost written book and it'd probably sell initially and in numbers but a sustained income coming from his post-playing career is gone really.

Unless BEIN Sports gets the hurling.

if you look at other massive falls from grace there’s probably a market out there för speakers at events albeit on a parochial scale with carey.

web summit fella could throw him a few pound for a talk. ted talk or similar.

tbh, i can’t see any way back from what he’s done. having had an aunt and an uncle die in recent years from cancer it’d be hard for a family who’ve gone through that, and there are lots, put it to one side and forgive him. that one story about the fella who’s wife had cancer handing over €4k in the hope that carey’s magic cure could help the wife is diabolical.

Do you think so? I would've thought that the intensity and fervour with which the media reported on this would make him poison to any club of note.

Then again who you know in the local GAA scene can certainly pour oil on rough waters.
Served his time, Wealth of knowledge deserves a second chance.

Don't underestimate the primordial response middle aged club officials have to a few all Ireland medals.

Not unless he can come to terms with why he did it, and at least attempt to make amends.

If he had an addiction issue, I could see rehabilitation being an easier task, but there seems to be no reason for him to have done it except that he wanted money.

I think there may be deep seated issues re money/wealth in that family. Bizzare to have two siblings caught up in completely separate scam operations with rumours than another family member also had a crack at something similar!

I'd heard that the mother was similar and that the father was the only "straight arrow" in the family. Then I got told a story by someone who said they'd dealings with him and was left out of pocket too.
